Alex started his career as Alex/Alexander the Great in 2007 with the IWS (Independent Wrestling School) in Grand Island, trained by Jose Gonzalez.

He recalls, "We ran 33 shows from 2007-2009 mostly in Nebraska and a couple in Iowa. I wrestled on every single IWS show. I became the first IWS Champion in 2009 after winning a tournament. I defeated my trainer and tag team partner Jose “Tequila Sunrise” Gonzalez in the final match of the tournament.".

He would then move onto the roster of the MWA in 2010. He defeated Austin Storm for the MWA TV Championship in 2011 in Omaha. Alex is a 3 time MWA Heavyweight Champion.

"I defeated Brian Blade in 2011 (2x) (in Hastings and in Lincoln) and won a 3 way match against Brian Blade and Prince Raheem in 2019 (3x) (in Aurora).".

He would share time in multiple companies throughout the midwest.

While in Magnum Pro he was given the name “Gorgeous” Alex Gretzky by owner/trainer/wrestler and Nebraska Pro Wrestling Hall of Famer the late Jaysin Strife. "I won the Magnum Pro Tag Team Championship as a member of the Hard Foundation in a Championship Scramble match (Hard Foundation vs. Devin Thomas/Allen Shepard vs. Supapop (Donnie Peppercricket/Supafli) vs. Ryan Presley/Tim Boston) The Hard Foundation was Snowflake, Michael Monsoon and myself. I won the Magnum Pro Sex Sweetheart Swimsuit Competition in 2015 and 2016 (2x). I won the Magnum Pro Over The Top match in 2016.".
